The Deep Cuts
This playlist is a bit all over the place. It’s a compilation of many of my favorite songs — some old, some new. In between the old and the new are the songs that put me in a good mood, songs I could never get tired of, and songs that get stuck in my head from time to time (for good reason). This playlist consists of the artists and songs I habitually go back to.
One current favorite on this playlist is “Solid” off MUNA’s new album. I was lucky enough to see them at SXSW this past spring and have had them on repeat ever since. While this lineup of songs are placed in no particular order, I did, however, intentionally place Donny Hathaway’s live version of “Jealous Guy” very first in line. It’s the one song I don’t think I could ever skip when it comes on shuffle.
I hope you enjoy listening! Maybe one of my favorite songs will become one of yours.

Favorite Concert Experience
Hmmm, I’d have to say Dolly Parton in Austin, TX for SXSW music festival this past spring. Each year, a group of SCOPErs travel to Austin for the week to network and to attend panels and shows across downtown Austin. This year I was lucky enough to tag along. Dolly’s set was insanely emotional for me for some reason? It was one of our last nights in Austin so I was already emotional. My tears also might have been prompted by exhaustion, but nonetheless, I sobbed during the majority of her performance. Once she started singing “Precious Memories” acapella, I completely LOST it. Once I started crying, so did everyone else around me. We were in a puddle of tears for the rest of her performance. Dolly has such a comforting presence to the point where it feels like she is singing directly to you. In between each song she told back stories about each song and what prompted her to write them. That week in Austin was filled with tons of incredible performances, but I feel like it would be a crime if I didn’t highlight THE Dolly Parton as my favorite. It was an insane experience and I would go back in a heartbeat to experience it all over again.
Hobbies / Interests / Fun Facts / Campus Involvement
School and SCOPE take up a lot of my free time, but when I’m not doing that, as cliche as it sounds, I love thrifting and traveling. My next bucket list destination would have to be the Pacific Northwest. I’m a server at Goosetown on the Northside of Iowa City. I love going to shows and finding new music to listen to. I’d like to consider myself a reader, but I sadly would feel like an imposter if I labeled myself as such. So, please feel free to send me book suggestions. One of my life-long goals is to meet Stanley Tucci.
