The Deep Cuts
For my first SCOPE Selects playlist, I decided to go for something a little bit different than picking a collection of songs that embody who I am. Don’t get me wrong, the tunes I selected absolutely give an insight into what my music taste looks like, but the main focus of this playlist was to represent SCOPE through my musical lens. This is a BIG organization. It spans across so many incredible humans, with their own unique and wonderful perspectives, and as a result, I put together a group of songs that covers a wide array of genres and emotions. Oh, and you best believe the chaotic nature of shuffling this playlist perfectly encapsulates the roller coaster that is a year in SCOPE. Hope you enjoy!
Three Favorite Albums
Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier
Dance Fever by Florence + The Machine
Random Access Memories by Daft Punk
Favorite Concert Experience
My favorite concert experience is always a tie between two very different shows. One is when I had the opportunity to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra perform the soundtrack of Home Alone while showing the movie, and the other is seeing Half Alive perform at the House of Blues in Chicago. The experiences couldn’t have been more different, but they were both majestic. They made me feel like I was a little kid again discovering the magic of music for the first time.
Hobbies / Interests / Fun Facts / Campus Involvement
Where do I even start? I feel like I’m always up to something! SCOPE is far from the only student organization I’m involved in. Some of the groups I’m involved with outside of SCOPE include Hawkeye Influencing, Tippie Business Honors Society, Storylab, Dance Marathon, and more. Beyond the extracurriculars, I also have a lot of personal goals I’m working towards, such as creating a culinary school at the University of Iowa, designing lego sets that could actually get made, and training for the Chicago Marathon. And if it’s neither of those, you’ll probably find me either in a practice room with my bass or at the rock wall with friends.
